Lies

The signs were all there

Subtle cues so easily ignored

The phone so fiercely guarded

Answers so casually vague

Working late again today

So busy now with work

Girlfriends not seen for years

Going out for drinks

The dinner cold atop the stove

How come you didn’t call?

A new fragrance on the shelf

Places shaved not shaved before

Amazon boxes piling up

New interest in your tan

Sleeping on a different side

Old friends you now avoid

Looking back I see the signs

They stare me in the face

Could it be me not you,

That jeopardized our fate?

About Phil

Hi, my name is Phil. I’ve managed to escape the corporate world, rid myself of excess belongings, travel the country extensively in my old Winnebago, and find a new home on a beautiful barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. I define myself as: a free spirit, a writer, a philosophical anarchist, a poet; a lover of nature, a lover of art, a protector of animals, as well as a devoted friend and partner

  3. I doubt it was you that jeopardized. Also…this is why all places should be shaved..all the time. Not just sometimes… ha!
